Sedimentological Analysis of the Turbidite Sequence in the Northern Part of the West Crocker Formation, Northwest Sabah

Gravity-flow deposits form the northern part of Crocker Formation (Oligocene–Early Miocene), with most significant interpretation as a sand-rich system in proximal and mud-rich distal area deep-water turbidite depositional setting. Seven outcrop localities northern-part were selected for mapping sampling, starting from Kota Kinabalu up to Telipok evaluate sedimentary sequence. This study used mapping, field observation, log sketches field, well extensive analysis sedimentological methods investigate sequence sediment outcrops northwest Sabah. During fieldwork, five main facies found, namely, massive sandstone (f1), graded (f2), laminated (f3), interbedded mudstone (f4), (f5).
